Music:

  • Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing” You’re All I Need (Tamla) 1968
  • The Satintones “Motor City” Going To The Hop (Tamla) 1959
  • The Marvelettes “Please Mr. Postman” Please Mr. Postman (Tamla) 1961

Notes:

Jim recollects on his journey to Hitsville USA; the famous Motown Museum in Detroit, Michigan! Jim spoke with Paul Barker, the museum’s director of development.

FUN FACT: The iconic “Motown sound” from many of the hits under the label was created by recording talent singing in a bathroom (which created an ‘echo’ sound).
