Music:

  • Toots and the Maytals “Take Me Home Country Roads” In the Dark (Dragon) 1973
  • The Replacements “I’m Not Sayin'” Songs for Slim (New West) 2013

Notes:

Chris Mars did the artwork for Songs for Slim and it’s pretty attention-grabbing, yeah?

You can still buy most of the Songs for Slim releases and assorted ephemera and you should, Slim and his family still need all the assistance they can get. Here is all the info. And once you can do that, there are still some of the original 7″ releases available in the collector market, but remember, anything you pay for those won’t be going to the cause.

The original Gordon Lightfoot version of “I’m Not Sayin'” – proceed at your own risk

You all know the John Denver original, so yeah, but the Baltimore Orioles used to play his “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” during the 7th inning stretch of their home games. Have to get Bud Verge on this to tell the whole backstory there.
